were is my neighbourhood

Kannan and satish live beside my house, its been 3 years since I've shifted to this new locality, sadly i have never interacted with them ever. Neighbourhood is supposed to be a geographically located place were neighbours have constant interaction. Over the last few year due to the huge influx of people into bangalore i have noticed the idea of a neighbourhood does not exist any more. I remember the days were i knew everyone on the road i lived in: the residents, the maids , the postman, the shopkeeper, the sweeper etc.
Now the person who lives in the very next house does not even acknowledge me. Neighbourhood should not be looked at geographically, it should be seen socially marked by friendship and companionship. These days there is no such interaction between neighbours.
Previously i lived in koramangla for over 15 years, i knew all my neighbours, we used to interact regularly.
The idea behind a neighbourhood is to establish relationships. These days most people lock them selves at home, only to come for work. Many a times i want to escape from the city to my home town. Cities have become annoying and monotonous.
