Pain is inevitable Suffering is optional

last tuesday i underwent an operation and replaced my ligament which i tore a year back. I was very optimistic that every thing would be as normal as ever post operation. I was discharged a day after the operation and then started the trouble.
Since they have cut a piece of my ligament from the front of my knee to replace the torn ligament, i have lost most control over my tigh. I also have about 20 stiches in three different location's and not to forget two 5 mm deep holes.
For the first few days i lost complete control ove the left leg. After undergoing intensive physiontheraphy i have slowly gained some amount of control. The only reason i underwent this operation is to be able to get back to my normal sporting activites. The doctor also warned me that am more prone to get arthritis if i prolonge the operation.
One very important person in my life said " pain is inevitable and suffering is optional ".
Though it is very hard to follow it makes so much sence, the pain is part and parcle of our lives the extent to what we suffer is our choice. The first few days i was cribbing about the pain, but now i have realised the more i keep thinking about it the more i feel the pain.
After all this operation is only for the good.
