Three Olympic Medals and India is on a high. Not only does it reflect on the low self esteem India has, it also personifies their down right obtuse the Indian mind is. We live in a country of over a billion, and we send a 57 person convoy to represent our nation.

Most Indian athletes failed to meet the expectations with poor performances.
The way i look at it is based on simple math -
China 971 participants = 100 medals
India 54 participants = 3 medals

If 50 participants can win 3 medals then 1000 will win 60 medals.
Sounds very simple right, where are we going to get 1000 athletes who are Olympic worthy.

Micheal Phelps not only created won him self 8 medals he also proved that he could single handedly take on a country like India.

Most of my friends are optimistic that India will win more medals next olympics

Well... Nice editing done on the pic , but I would like to take the opportunity to react on a few things quoted in this entry.. Yes!! Michael Phelps is one of the greatest swimmer's or rather THE greatest Olympian of all time... He worked hard, stayed consistent, focused in attaining his goal of beating that 8 individual GOLD mark and he did it. That’s totally acceptable... But we would not have known about his success story or he wouldn’t have been in the lime light, only if he hadn’t got the support he needed from his acquaintances (Be it parents, siblings, relatives, the American government etc)... But have you given a second thought on how many talented sports persons India might have and they are not able to make it to the top because of the lack of opportunities, infrastructure and oppositions they have to face... When China can send 971 participants, why cant India?? The Indians are not exposed to different sports because of the dominance of sports like cricket... The Indian government should certainly make measures in promoting and training sportsmen for different sports and eliminate the dominance of just one sport. The Indians should also value the other sportsmen too and not only shore up on cricket, just because they do not excel. The boxers and the sharp shooter would not have been exposed through media if they hadn’t won, whereas every Indian knows every cricketer’s name by heart even though they lose consistently. When the government can spend so much on cricket, they have to drain in more money for other sports too. And I am definitely optimistic that India will win more medals if they make these necessary transformations.
